A HISTORY OF SUCCESS

Early research and designing of the N2K elements began in 2001. Our Pilot Cohort was conducted in partnership with Chemeketa Community College. Participating employer partners included:

Students began by taking the nursing prerequisite courses as a cohort. In June 2005 nine students graduated and obtained their nursing licenses. All students in this cohort were bilingual/bicultural.

The Cascades East AHEC Cohort was a partnership between the AHEC in Bend, and Central Oregon Community College. Participating employer partners included:

Utilizing a number of distance learning educational methods, this cohort graduated 16 nurses in December 2005.

The role of the Oregon Health Career Center with this cohort was limited to early design and planning consultation. Our Kaiser Permanente NW Cohort was conducted in partnership with Clackamas Community College. All of the members of this cohort were Kaiser employees. They began by taking the nursing prerequisite courses as a cohort. In December 2007, twenty-three students graduated, obtained their nursing licenses, and began working as nurses within the Kaiser Permanente system.

Our PCC Cohort #1 was conducted in partnership with Portland Community College. Participating employers included:

In December 2008, sixteen students graduated, obtained their nursing licenses, and began working as nurses for their sponsoring employers.

Our CCC Cohort #2 was conducted in partnership with Clackamas Community College. Participating employers included:

In December 2009, eighteen students graduated in this cohort, and are currently obtaining their nursing licenses and beginning their careers as nurses for their sponsoring employers.
