HIGH SCHOOL AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
The HCOP High School Program provides college preparation and health career exploartion workshops to students after school.
We work with our partner high schools to reach students who are interested in health careers and will be the first in their family to go to college and/or are from low-income families. From October to May, we provide students with a holistic program that supports their dreams of going to college and becoming future health professionals.
Students engage in interactive activities and discussions on financial aid and scholarships, study skills, volunteering, and cultural competency in healthcare.
Students explore health careers and college health programs through guest speakers who volunteer their time to discuss their health professions and through field studies to local hospitals, clinics and colleges.
We also provide academic advising sessions to each student to discuss grades, course selection and progress toward graduation as well as college choice and requirements for admission.
Our staff are available on an ongoing basis to communicate with students individually for general advice and support.
